An Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) is responsible for managing and maintaining all of a yacht’s electrical and electronic systems. These include: AV/IT systems (audio, video, satellite comms, WiFi), Navigation and bridge electronics, Power generation and distribution, Lighting, HVAC, Galley and automation systems, Battery banks, UPS and energy storage, Control systems for propulsion and stabilisers
ETOs often work alongside Chief Engineers and must ensure compliance with maritime safety regulations, manufacturer specifications, and the yacht’s operational requirements.
