ETO/ Engineer

Salary : EUR 4000 to EUR 6500 Per Month

Electro-Technical Officers (ETOs) are responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of a superyacht’s electrical, electronic, and IT systems. Working under the Chief Engineer, the ETO ensures all systems—ranging from power generation and distribution to AV/IT and navigational electronics—function flawlessly throughout voyages.

This multifaceted role requires hands-on expertise, adaptability, and the ability to respond quickly to system failures or guest-impacting issues. An ETO often liaises with AV/IT specialists, engine room teams, and external service providers to keep the yacht fully operational and compliant.

The position suits experienced marine electricians or IT engineers transitioning to the yachting sector, particularly those who enjoy high-spec technology, problem-solving, and global travel.

Qualifications, training and skills required

  • STCW III/6 ETO Certification
  • ENG1 Medical Certificate
  • Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or Marine Electronics
  • AV/IT System Experience (Crestron, Cisco, VSAT)
  • High Voltage Systems Certification (if applicable)

Extra desired training

  • GMDSS Operational Endorsement
  • Network Administration and Cybersecurity Basics
  • Battery Systems & Green Power Management
  • Remote Fault Diagnostics and Monitoring Tools
