Summary

MAINTENANCE-FOCUSED HOUSE MANAGER FOR LUXURY HAMPTONS HOME

Location: Hamptons, NY, USA

Contract: Full-Time, Seasonal (could possibly go permanent)

Salary: USD, Competitive

Status: Live-in

An UHNW family is seeking an experienced and technically proficient Seasonal House Manager to oversee their high-specification Hamptons residence from May through September. This is a live-in role within a luxury holiday home occupied by a family of five, requiring a hands-on, engineering-focused professional who can take full responsibility for the property’s smooth operation, safety and presentation.

The House Manager will assume complete oversight of the home’s mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, ensuring all plant, HVAC, AV/IT, lighting controls, security, pool and irrigation systems are fully operational at all times. Daily system checks, preventative maintenance planning and first-line troubleshooting will form a core part of the role. The successful candidate will maintain detailed service records, anticipate issues before they arise and ensure the property operates to the highest technical standards.

The role also involves managing and supervising contractors and service providers, sourcing trusted local vendors and maintaining strong professional relationships within the Hamptons community. All external and internal works must be carefully coordinated, monitored and delivered to an exceptional standard. Additionally, you will also oversee service schedules for landscaping, pool maintenance, HVAC, security and specialist systems, ensuring discretion and quality throughout.

Supporting the family’s day-to-day needs as required, and working collaboratively with the housekeepers and chef, you will be a hands-on team player with a can-do attitude. Occasional driving or errands may also be requested. This position is ideally suited to a candidate with a background as a superyacht engineer, estate engineer or similar, who is confident managing complex residential systems and smart home technology. The successful individual will be practical, solutions-driven, highly organised and discreet, with a calm and professional manner suited to a family environment.

Flexibility and the ability to adapt to the family’s schedule is of essence, therefore every day might be different. The family are really lovely and make sure that staff get rest, though it is very busy over the summer season, so days can be long. Accommodation is offered within the house in a private en-suite bedroom on a separate staff floor, with food and beverages included. There is a possibility that this role might become permanent for the right candidate, however, it is seasonal for now.

DUTIES TO INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Oversee and maintain the family’s home, guest house and pool house to the owners’ standards of excellence
  • Conduct daily inspections and ensure the cleanliness, safety, and security of all areas and taking a hands-on approach with all maintenance-related tasks
  • Oversee procurement, inventory, and vendor contracts, ensuring cost efficiency
  • Liaising with suppliers and ensuring gardens, all outside areas and the pool area are maintained

·       Oversee fire safety systems, alarms, water systems and emergency equipment

·       Carrying out risk assessments and ensuring full seasonal readiness

·       Hands-on support within the household, working collaboratively with the wider team to ensure a seamless visit for the family

·       Running errands

·       Ad-hoc driving

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

·       Dynamic and service-oriented with the ability to operate with flexibility, initiative, and composure

·       Detail-oriented and knowledge of working with high-end finishes

·       Proactive approach and willingness to roll up your sleeves, seeing to all basic maintenance tasks yourself

·       Ability to multitask under pressure

·       Willingness to be on call as needed

·       Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence interacting with HNW individuals

·       Right to live and work in the USA

·       Full US driving license

·       Brilliant checkable references
