Who are the PYA?
The Professional Yachting Association (PYA) is a non-profit organisation founded in 1991 to support and represent professional yacht crew worldwide. With members from over 90 countries, the PYA plays a key role in promoting professional standards, crew welfare, and career development across the yachting industry.
The Association supports its members by verifying sea service, providing clear and impartial guidance on certification, training pathways, regulations, and best practice, and by acting as a recognised voice for professional crew at an administrative and industry level.
The PYA is the ONLY organisation committed to helping professional yacht crew in this way.
The PYA was the first organisation appointed to verify sea service on behalf of the UK Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA). Today, the PYA Digital Service Record Book (D-SRB) remains the MCA’s preferred method for accurately recording and presenting time spent at sea.
