CREATIVE PRIVATE CHEF REQUIRED FOR HNW FAMILY IN GSTAAD, SWITZERLAND

We have a fantastic opportunity available for an experienced, passionate and highly creative Private Chef to support an ultra-high-net-worth family in their family home in Gstaad, Switzerland. Preparing a wide variety of cuisine types and dishes to keep mealtimes interesting and varied, the ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working in top-end Michelin-starred restaurants and have broad experience with most major world cuisines.
The family favour Western European cuisines, including French and Italian, but also enjoy exploring different cuisines such as Indian, Asian, and Japanese, so it’s imperative that the Chef is comfortable with preparing a broad repertoire of world cuisines. Always interested in trying new and different foods, the family value a Chef who is keen to keep expanding their knowledge and experience, continuously refining their craft by experimenting with different dishes and cuisines.
Preparing lunch and dinner for this family of four, you will be responsible for the sourcing, provisioning and organisation of all ingredients, usually getting fresh products from local suppliers on a daily basis. Meals are served either plated or family style, depending on what the dish is. Due to the location of the property, the Chef must be a confident driver with a valid driver’s license.
A staffed household, it’s of great importance to the family that the Chef is a personable team player with a down-to-earth, relaxed, yet professional nature. As part of the role, the Chef will be required to travel abroad with the family from time to time and will also prepare meals for the live-in staff daily. With a track record of great staff retention, this family treat their staff exceptionally well and are looking for a Chef to remain with them long-term.
Core working hours are Monday to Friday, however, some flexibility will be required to work on weekends when the family are entertaining, with time given back in lieu. Ideally, the family are looking to hire a Chef already based in the local area within a commutable distance from Gstaad.
DUTIES TO INCLUDE, BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
· Preparing meals in accordance with family and their guests’ tastes and dietary requirements
· Independent management and running of the kitchen
· Maintain kitchen (including all equipment, appliances, supplies) to a superior level of cleanliness and hygiene
· Maintaining communication with the principals regarding requests for meals and any requirements for the kitchen and/or food preparation
· Weekly menu planning
· Grocery shopping and maintaining accounts and budgets, building relationships with local suppliers
· Waste management and stock control
· Preparing meals for the live-in staff, including batch-cooking and freezing staff meals
· Travelling abroad with the family when required
· Experimenting with different cuisines and developing recipes when time allows
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
· Formally trained as a Chef and experience in top-end Michelin-starred restaurants
· Prior professional Chef experience supporting an UHNWI or family
· Excellent English language skills
· Exceptionally organised with the ability to plan ahead, yet remain flexible and adaptable
· Professional, approachable, and discreet
· Disciplined, punctual and proactive
· Creative and intuitive
· Willing to commit to longevity
· Valid driving license
· Reside within a commutable distance from Gstaad
· Right to live and work in the EU
· Excellent checkable references
