Sole Chef

On a smaller vessel you have a Cook or otherwise titled Sole Chef who will cook for owners and crew. Will be responsible for provisioning of all food items, meal planning and preparation, knowledge of food safety, dietary needs and be able to work within a budget. Normally on a small yacht where there is a Sole Chef, you will be expected to assist in other departments.

Salary range

EUR 3000 to EUR 4500 Per Month

Qualifications, training and skills required
  • Food safety and Hygiene While not mandatory to have any formal qualifications most Chefs do come with a city & guilds or equivalent qualification.
  • Prior restaurant experience as a cook
  • Cooking all guest and crew meals
  • Knowledge of food safety and Storage
  • Knowledge of produce
  • An understanding of nutrition
  • Awareness of allergies
  • Ability to provision
  • Ability to budget
  • An interest and awareness of the latest dieting trends
  • Willingness to assist in other areas on board
Extra desired training
  • Professional chef qualification
  • Any prior boating experience
  • Powerboat level 2/ competent tender driver
  • Prior service experience
  • Ships Cooks Certificate
