Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable and motivated Sous Chef to support the day-to-day culinary operations on a private island in the Bahamas. This role is best suited to a Junior Sous Chef or strong Chef de Partie who is eager to develop professionally and gain experience within an exceptional private-island environment.
The position is focused on execution rather than creative development, supporting a calm, structured, and methodical kitchen operation. Candidates with extensive senior sous chef experience may find the role under-stimulating; however, for the right developing chef, this position offers an outstanding stepping stone. Holding the Sous Chef title and gaining experience at Musha Cay carries significant professional cachet.
Key Responsibilities - Kitchen Support & Execution
- Assist the Resident Chef with daily food preparation and service
- Execute established menus and recipes accurately and consistently
- Support guest dining, events, villa service, and staff meals as scheduled
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and food safety
- Step into broader responsibilities only when directed
Daily Operations
(On Trip)
- Assist with prep planning, storage, and proper food rotation
- Help receive and organize deliveries
- Monitor basic inventory usage and report shortages or issues
- Maintain clean and orderly workstations and storage areas
(Off Trip)
Prepare straightforward, well-executed meals for management staff
Assist with deep cleaning, organization, and prep projects
Participate in training, skill development, and system refinement
Lifestyle & Environment (Important)
- This is a remote, livein position on a private island. Candidates must be fully comfortable with island living, including:
- Limited social life and nightlife
- Long stretches on island between scheduled breaks
- A quiet, low distraction environment best suited to individuals who enjoy routine, focus, and structure
Salary & Benefits
- Salary: USD $45,000–$50,000 per annum
- Livein accommodation and meals provided
- Work permit fees covered
- Flights provided to relocate to the island and return flight at the end of employment
