Summary
Burgess recruitment is currently seeking a Storekeeper for a 150m+ Research Vessel
Looking for a Storekeeper who will be responsible for the efficient management, tracking, and distribution of all consumables, spare parts, scientific stores, and hotel provisions aboard a dual-purpose research, expedition, and yacht-class vessel.
Requirements
· Previous experience as a Storekeeper, Inventory Officer, or similar role at sea—experience on research vessels, expedition ships, or yachts preferred.
· Strong understanding of maritime inventory systems and requisition procedures.
· Familiarity with scientific equipment and expedition operations advantageous.
· Excellent organizational, record-keeping, and documentation skills.
· Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical, scientific, and hospitality departments.
· Ability to work independently and thrive in remote regions with limited resupply.
Valid STCW certificates and seafarer medical; additional safety or logistics qualifications a plus
Job Duties
Inventory & Stock Management
· Maintain accurate inventory of all technical, scientific, deck, engineering, galley, and hotel stores using the vessel’s inventory management software.
· Track consumption, forecast demand, and prepare order lists in collaboration with department heads.
· Conduct regular stocktakes and update records with clear traceability.
· Ensure stores are properly labelled, organized, and stored according to safety, hygiene, and manufacturer requirements.
Procurement & Logistics
· Assist the Chief Engineer, Purser, or Captain in sourcing and ordering supplies, spares, scientific equipment, and provisions.
· Coordinate with suppliers, agents, and logistics companies to arrange deliveries globally—often in remote or expedition regions.
· Oversee the receipt of goods, verify packing lists and invoices, and ensure non-conformities are documented and reported.
· Manage customs documentation for scientific equipment, hazardous goods, samples, and yacht guest provisions.
Scientific & Expedition Support
· Supporting the science team to manage specialized research equipment, consumables, sample storage materials, and field kits.
· Track and maintain inventory of expedition gear such as survival kits, cold-weather equipment, dive equipment, and small craft supplies.
Yacht Operations & Guest-Level Service
· Support the hospitality team by managing premium guest provisions, winery stocks, toiletries, and other luxury consumables.
· Coordinate discreet, high-standard procurement tailored to guest preferences and yacht-level service expectations.
· Ensure flawless stock availability for guest trips, charters, or owner operations.
Safety & Compliance
· Maintain storage areas according to ISM, ISPS, MARPOL, and SOLAS guidelines.
· Ensure correct handling and storage of hazardous materials (e.g., paints, chemicals, lubricants).
· Participate in safety drills and ensure manifest accuracy for emergency gear and safety equipment.
· Work with engineering and deck teams to ensure spares and stores comply with class and flag state requirements.

Salary: EUR 5000
Leave: Currently 4 weeks on 5 weeks off- ONLY PAID when on board-Once vessel gets into operation after yard completion, it will go on a 2:1 rotation (6 weeks interval).
Currently based in the Netherlands, where the vessel will remain in drydock for outfitting until end of 2026 beginning of 2027
Crew are accommodated in an apartment hotel approx. 10-15 min by car to the shipyard. Daily food allowance is compensated due to lack of galley department not operational.
Vessel is a combination vessel consisting of research and science together with an ultra-luxury yacht mode
