A 120’ Ocean King (2023) is seeking an experienced and hands-on Mate to join a private dual-season program operating between the Bahamas and the Mediterranean
The Owner lives onboard approximately 90% of the time, mostly alone, with consistent but controlled usage.
Summer operations are focused on the Western Mediterranean (France, Italy, Spain, Monaco) with a dynamic and itinerary-driven schedule.
Winter, Bahamas based in Baker's Bay

Strong and proven knowledge of the Western Mediterranean basin is essential, including:
- Ports and marinas
- Anchorages
- Coastal routing
- Weather patterns and seasonal considerations
- Established relationships with local agents (a plus)
Candidates must have previous navigation experience within the Western Med and feel confident contributing actively to passage planning and operational decisions.
Role Overview
This is a hands-on operational role.
The Mate will:
- Directly manage and mentor the deckhand
- Work alongside the deckhand on daily maintenance and deck operations
- Lead deck preparation for owner movements
- Stand navigational watches and assist the Captain with passage planning
- Oversee safe anchoring and docking operations
This is not a purely administrative Chief Officer role — the program requires someone proactive, practical, and comfortable leading from the front.
Candidate Profile
- Previous experience as Mate / Chief Officer or strong Senior Deck background
- Solid Western Mediterranean cruising experience (essential)
- Confident with port knowledge and anchorage selection
- Leadership skills with a mentoring approach
- Professional, discreet, owner-focused mindset
- Valid certifications (STCW, ENG1, etc.)
- B1/B2 visa preferred
