THIS CAN BE PART TIME FOR THE YARD PERIOD until around MARCH 1, 2026.

IF ALL GOES WELL YOU CAN ALSO STAY Full time (live off in San Diego) and work an 8am - 4pm M-F schedule. OR just work the yard period.

Itinerary: Southern California - not much travel - Catalina Island, Baja, cruising several times per year. 

License Required: YR but ideally YM+

Senior Deck and/or Bosun experience is preferred  

Requirements: painting, 2 part paint, product knowledge, solid product knowledge and hands on deck maintenance skills. Handy with tools, Large tender (jet) experience on 40' Hinkley tender). 

B1/B2 visa or US or Green card 

STCW + Refresher as needed

medical fit for duty/ ENG 1 (min. 6 months validity)

Passport (valid min. 1 year)

TWIC card is a bonus

Leads deck crew by example

Positive personality. Is a mentor to their team.  

Leads with empowerment, respect, collaboration, and ethical guidance. 

Best suited for someone that comes from smaller boat programs as this does not run like a typical 55m yacht. It is more casually structured.

We need someone who has been through a large refit before. 

Organized - can help setup and organize lockers and workshop areas. 

Experienced and confident with 2 part painting and Varnish - we have a few laps of cap rail varnish to complete next month.

Is handy on the tools for repairs of doors, hinges, all manner of deck hardware, etc. 

Someone familiar with safety and lifesaving equipment. 

All manner of cleaning and the products involved. 

Can be a leader for deckhands and can work seamlessly with myself and the captain. 

OPPORTUNITY to move up to CO after 6+ months.

Responsibilities: Deck maintenance and team leader. 

Job Specifics: BOSUN. IF FULL TIME - LIVE OFF near San Diego area.  For Yard period - there is a Crew House provided until end of yard around March 1st.

Usage Details: Boss uses the boat as a Condo during 5-6 months over summer (could go into spring or fall) the other 6-7 months we do maintenance. When boss is aboard all crew (likely have a rotating watchkeeper) live ashore and come in from about 9am-3pm M-F with one exterior (possibly interior as well) coming in Sat and Sun for an hour or two to clean the mess and to check on things. 

During winter non boss times its generally M-F 8am-4pm. Crew have been know to live aboard during this time.

A few modifications to the program could take place.  

This is not a Service program. Boss is very down to earth person and mostly takes care of himself. He just wants a big boat that works and looks great. We have a large tender that we take him around with and very occasionally move the big boat around the general area. (Once a year to Catalina, etc.)

Salary range: Within yachting salary guidelines depending on experience. USD
