3rd Engineer | 65m+ Private Expedition Yacht
We are looking for a motivated and practical individual to join the engineering team on a 65m+ private expedition style yacht with an active cruising schedule along the Southern African coast and Indian Ocean islands.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a trade or technical background who is eager to gain hands-on experience in a professional and supportive environment. You will work alongside an experienced engineering team and be involved in the real, day to day technical operation of the vessel, not simply polishing stainless.
This is a permanent role 5:1 (60 days leave annually)
The Ideal Candidate
You have a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and a genuine curiosity about the yacht’s systems. You are hands-on, proactive, and willing to learn from those around you. The role will suit someone who enjoys problem solving, teamwork, and adventure. Ideally someone with strong ties to South Africa.
Requirements
- AEC 2
- Valid STCW and ENG1
- Trade or technical background in mechanical, electrical, or plumbing fields highly advantageous
- South African or Southern African based candidates strongly preferred
- Must demonstrate initiative, reliability, and a willingness to learn
- Desire to commit longer term
