The Candidate Specification
We are seeking an experienced Head of Housekeeping to join the dynamic crew aboard a private 70m+ expedition yacht. This is a very hands-on role on an active and energetic team, where stamina, adaptability, and a passion for delivering exceptional service are essential. The successful candidate will lead the housekeeping department, overseeing all aspects of cleanliness, organisation, and guest satisfaction, ensuring the yacht operates to the highest standards.
The yacht will be in the US for a yard period, and during winter, the team is likely to be based at the owners' chalet in France - an excellent opportunity to learn the owners' preferences and standards in a private residence setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for running or fitness, as both the owners and crew enjoy maintaining an active lifestyle.
The Head of Housekeeping will lead and manage a team of 3-4 female housekeeping crew members, overseeing all housekeeping operations with meticulous attention to detail, including laundry management. Responsibilities include maintaining guest preference databases, administering guest-related documentation, managing stock control and inventory, conducting crew cabin inspections, reporting defects, and ensuring standards are upheld across all areas. The role also involves assisting with crew administration, training, and regular departmental assessments, while consistently adhering to safety and security procedures. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional housekeeping and laundry skills, in-depth knowledge of detailing methodology, strong leadership, organisational, and people management abilities, and be highly detail-oriented with effective problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) on both Windows and Mac systems is required, along with a positive, personable, adaptable, and resilient attitude, and a genuine passion for delivering high-end service.
