Summary
We are currently seeking a Permanent First mate to join a 40m+ Single Season Private Motor Yacht.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Captain and crew to ensure the smooth running of the yacht, maintaining high standards of safety, guest satisfaction, and overall vessel presentation. The role involves assisting in navigation, safety protocols, technical operations, and providing excellent service to guests during charter and private events. The First Mate will need to demonstrate strong leadership skills and be prepared to manage safety procedures and onboard activities efficiently and professionally. This vessel is a Classic and will require a first mate with strong deck maintenance skills and able to teach the junior crew. The vessel is private and will be based in Malta in the winters.
Candidate requirements:
- Previous experience as a Chief Officer or First Mate on yachts of similar size (30m+)
- Valid STCW and ENG1
- Yacht Master offshore or Higher
- Proven ability to supervise safety and security onboard
- Good understanding of yacht technical operations and maintenance
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Responsible, proactive, and able to work well in a team environment
- Organised and to lead a successful deck team
- Water sports knowledge
- Strong deck maintenance skills (Varnishing, teak and painting)
Package:
- Salary: €5,500 - 6,000 pcm
- Leave: 3.67 days paid
