Summary
We are seeking a Seasonal Mate to join a brand-new Ferretti 940 private motor yacht, based in Sicily
This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven and hands-on Mate looking to build experience and progress toward a future Captain role within a supportive, family-oriented programme.
The yacht will be used seasonal by the family primarily for day and half-day coastal cruising - They carry a full compliment of toys including: Seabobs, inflatables and slide
You will be part of a Crew of 2: Captain + Mate/Skipper - The Captain has longstanding history with the owners and brings strong technical and mechanical experience.
This role will suit someone eager to learn, grow, and take on increasing responsibility with a chance to step up to captain
When the boat is not in use accommodation will be provided ashore - Crew do not stay on board
The Role
As part of a two-person crew, you must be proactive, adaptable and willing to assist across all areas of yacht operations.
Duties will include:
- Navigational support and vessel handling
- Assisting with docking and manoeuvres
- Washdowns and exterior maintenance
- Assisting with interior cleaning as required
- Supporting general upkeep during downtime
Candidate Requirements
- Yachtmaster Offshore (in hand)
- 2 years + experience on similar-sized vessels in mate roles
- Conversational Italian highly advantageous
- Europe-based candidates preferred due to vessel location
- Professional, flexible and hands-on attitude
- Comfortable working on a self-employed contractor basis (monthly invoicing and managing own taxes)
Package
- €4,000 EUR per month
- Seasonal contract with potential to become permanent with relocation to Italy
- Leave will be accrued at 2.5 days per month
- ASAP start
