Seeking a Couple – Captain & Cook/Stew
85ft Pacific Mariner 85 | Private US-Flagged Program
We are seeking a professional couple to join a lovely private program on an 85ft Pacific Mariner. This is a strictly private, owner-use vessel that runs with two full-time crew.
The owners have been very hands-on and have historically operated the yacht themselves, completing the round trip from Key Largo to Michigan many times. Now in their sixties, they recognize the need for support and are looking for a capable, easy-going crew to help them continue enjoying their time on the water safely and comfortably.
Program
The yacht runs on a very structured and predictable schedule:
- November – April: Key Largo, Florida (with shoreside accommodation provided for crew)
- May: Vessel heads north
- May – September: Harbor Springs, Michigan (home dock)
- October: Southbound return to Key Largo
- Some past seasons the boat has run on its own north/south, and occasionally been shipped. This summer the yacht will be shipped to Michigan.
Owners & Lifestyle
The owners are kind, family-oriented people with strong values and faith. They are laid-back and do not expect white-glove service or Michelin-style meals. They enjoy simple, wholesome cooking and a relaxed onboard atmosphere.
They are not big entertainers and prefer spending time with family, including their grown children and grandchildren.
Crew Structure
Captain / Engineer
- Responsible for navigation, vessel operations, and general engineering oversight
- Must have a good working understanding of the engine room and be able to troubleshoot when needed
- Shore support is available when necessary
- Responsible for vessel accounting and implementing a clear, organized system (a key focus for the owners)
Cook / Stew / Mate
- Preparing simple, healthy meals
- Light interior duties
- Assisting the Captain on deck when needed (lines, fenders during docking, etc.)
Additional Notes
- No towed tender
- No heavy fishing or watersports program
- The yacht carries two paddleboards and otherwise keeps things simple

- A long-term Mate ready to step up into their first Captain role, or
- Someone with experience on larger yachts looking to transition into a more hands-on command position
