The Candidate Specification
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Captain for a private, family-oriented motor yacht. Extensive experience cruising the Bahamas is essential and is a key requirement for this role. The ideal candidate will be confident navigating and operating in this region and comfortable managing all aspects of cruising there.
The yacht follows a seasonal program, operating in the Bahamas from October through July. From July to October, the vessel is taken out of the water for a scheduled yard period, with a short trip planned at the end of February. We would like the new Captain to join within the next couple of weeks in readiness for the trip ahead.
The yacht is Cayman-flagged, and candidates must hold a valid Master 500 GT license as well as a B1/B2 visa. (if required). Compliance, safety, and professional standards are a priority for the owners.
The onboard structure consists of a Captain, Chief Stewardess, First Mate, Deck/Stew, Deckhand, and a Chase Boat Captain. The crew are shore-based and live in a crew house located at the marina, providing a stable and comfortable living environment.
This is a very family-oriented yacht with high standards, while also creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The owners are a caring and loving family who want everyone onboard to feel comfortable, respected, and valued. The successful candidate will be a strong leader who can maintain professionalism while supporting a positive and inclusive team culture.
