Summary
A highly competent, motivated, and professional Lead Deckhand is sought for a prestigious 100m+ motor yacht currently operating in Europe, with ongoing Mediterranean cruising. This role is ideally suited to an experienced AB/Yachtmaster Offshore/Navigational Watch Rating holder who is ready to take the next step into a leadership-focused deck position, assisting the Bosun in the day-to-day management, supervision, and development of the deck team. The successful candidate will have proven experience on vessels of 80 metres or above, with a strong all-round deck skillset and the confidence to lead by example. Responsibilities will include overseeing daily deck operations, maintenance planning and execution, watch-keeping where applicable, and supporting the Bosun in ensuring the deck department consistently operates to the vessel’s high operational and presentation standards.
Experience with diving operations, watersports, tender handling, and large-vessel deck maintenance will be considered a strong advantage. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, a proactive leadership style, a strong work ethic, and the ability to perform effectively within a structured, fast-paced, high-end yachting environment. Job Specification
- Navigational Watchkeeping A-II/4 or Yacht Master Offshore CoC
- Valid Seaman's Book
- Valid Passport
- Valid Basic Training A-VI/1 to 1-4
- Valid ENG 1 Medical without restrictions
- Proficiency in Designated Security Duties (PDSD)
- Deck experience with longevity on a vessel greater than 70m is key
- Crowd Management certificate a must (you will need to complete this online if you don't have the certificate to be considered)
- PWC Instructor and Dive Master/Instructor certificates would be welcomed
- Tender driving experience and skills is mandatory
- Proven and verifiable deck maintenance skill is mandatory
- Any and all additional certificates welcomed and will give you an advantage
- No visible tattoos, Non-smoker
- Must we willing to take a drug and alcohol test
- Must provide valid written references
- Military background will need to be considered
- Candidates need to join the vessel in Europe so a Schengen Visa or valid exempt passport is required. Candidates without a visa will need to have a strong CV.
