Sole Engineer – 39m Commercial Motor Yacht (Australia)
HMG is seeking an experienced Sole Engineer to join a 39m commercially registered, foreign-flagged motor yacht operating in Australia to start early February at the latest.
This is a well-run vessel with a crew of 6, a strong onboard culture, and a healthy engineering budget. Significant upgrades and improvements have already been completed, with continued owner support for maintenance and further enhancements.

- Salary: AUD 170,000 – 190,000/year + charter tips
Certification & Experience Requirements:
- Y4 (with MTU engine course) or Y3 (III/3) or commercial equivalent
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as Sole Engineer on similar-sized yachts
- Strong, practical understanding of yacht engineering systems
- International yachting experience required
Machinery & Systems:
- MTU main engines
- John Deere / Kohler generators
- Condaria air conditioning
- Hamann AG & Jets toilet systems
- Recent upgrades include:
- New washers and dryers
- New Jets pumps
- New Air Con pumps
- Reconditioned Hamann system
- Upgraded bridge equipment
Accommodation:
- Single cabin when not in charter service
- Shared cabin with the Captain during charters
Candidate Profile:
- A proactive, adventurous engineer with a good sense of humour
- Team-oriented with a positive, can-do attitude
- Comfortable working as the sole engineer with full responsibility
- Would suit an Aussie or Kiwi returning home, though open to all nationalities
