A solid opportunity is available for an experienced yet energetic Engineer to join a 40m private/charter yacht currently based in Florida and preparing for an active season in the Bahamas. The program is hands-on, team-oriented, and ideal for someone who enjoys stepping in wherever needed to ensure smooth, successful charters.
The Captain is looking for a well-rounded, youthful Engineer who brings strong technical ability, a proactive mindset, and a collaborative attitude. This vessel operates with a tight, positive crew culture, and a South African candidate is preferred to complement the existing team dynamic.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain all mechanical, electrical, and technical systems onboard
- Troubleshoot issues quickly and efficiently, both underway and at anchor
- Prepare the vessel for a busy Bahamas season with a mix of private use and charters
- Assist other departments during charter operations (tenders, water toys, deck tasks, guest set-ups, etc.)
- Maintain engine room logs, inventory, and planned maintenance schedules
- Liaise with Captain, management, and contractors as needed
Requirements
- Previous engineering experience on yachts 30m–45m
- Strong hands-on skill set and the ability to work well under pressure
- Team player who is comfortable helping across departments when charter pace requires it
- Positive, energetic, “jump in and get it done” attitude
- Preferably South African to fit well with the current crew dynamic
- Availability to start immediately
