Burgess recruitment is currently seeking an experienced ETO/ AV/IT Officer 150m+ research vessel
Requirements
- ETO CoC
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as ETO/IT officer
- Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft) preferred
- Demonstrated experience with AV/IT systems in a maritime setting
- Familiarity with marine electrical and automation systems, including high-voltage safety
- Project management experience from ship new building is highly desirable
- Strong analytical and documentation capabilities
- Highly professional, guest-oriented, and discreet
- Excellent communication and project coordination abilities
- Independent, reliable, and capable of performing under pressure
Job details
Project & Outfitting Responsibilities (Primary Role until end of 2026):
- Act as project lead and liaison for the AV/IT contractor during the final outfitting phase.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and commissioning of all AV/IT systems onboard.
- Coordinate technical requirements with internal teams and vendors.
- Review system designs, ensure compliance with technical and operational needs, and participate in system acceptance tests.
- Track progress, address issues proactively, and ensure timely delivery and quality assurance of AV/IT installations.
Ongoing IT & AV Duties
- Manage onboard networks (LAN/Wi-Fi), servers, and communication systems (VSAT, Starlink, 5G, etc.).
- Maintain and support guest and crew entertainment and AV platforms.
- Work closely with IT service provider to ensure security and systems availability.
- Provide day-to-day tech support for crew, guests, and scientific operations.
Electrical & Technical Duties
Support the ETOs as follows:
- Maintain and repair electrical infrastructure including switchboards, power distribution, HVAC, and lighting systems.
- Support bridge systems such as ECDIS, radar, and GPS.
- Assist with electronic systems in the engine room and automation.
- Monitor and service UPS systems, battery banks, and emergency power systems
Start date: January 2026
Location: Europe
Salary: EUR 7000+ DOE
Leave: 1:1 rotation turning to 6 weeks on: 6 weeks off when rotational
