Job description:
We are seeking a highly experienced Japanese Cuisine Head Chef to join a private 70m motor yacht on a full-time, rotational basis (8 weeks on / 8 weeks off).
This is a prestigious opportunity for a chef with extensive training and professional experience in traditional Japanese and sushi cuisine, including mastery of classical techniques, regional styles, and premium ingredient handling.
The yacht is fully private and occasionally used by close family friends. The itinerary will include Southeast Asia over Christmas and into the New Year. The vessel operates with 18 crew and accommodates up to 12 guests.
The family has owned multiple high-end restaurants and maintains exceptionally high culinary standards. They are seeking a chef with significant professional experience in top Japanese restaurants, ideally at the Michelin or luxury level.
⚠️ Chefs who have only completed short cooking courses will not be considered.
Applicants must demonstrate:
- Deep professional expertise in traditional Japanese cuisine and sushi
- Significant hands-on experience in reputable Japanese restaurants (ideally in Japan or internationally recognised establishments)
- Ability to execute authentic, technique-driven Japanese menus at the highest level
A cooking trial will be required for shortlisted candidates. Assistance will be provided for any required yacht certifications.
