Summary

Location: US/Bahamas

Start Date: ASAP

Salary: USD 10,000/month (subject to adjustment during 3-month probation, to be agreed with owner)

Overview:

We are seeking an energetic, hands-on Captain to lead a 30m motor yacht operating with a crew of four. The ideal candidate will combine operational excellence with strong leadership and a proactive approach to yacht management. This is a live-onboard position requiring commitment, professionalism, and a genuine passion for maintaining high standards both on deck and in guest-facing settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily yacht operations, safety, and maintenance of all onboard systems.
  • Split role: 70% deck / 30% bridge — fully involved in hands-on deck work.
  • Manage and motivate a small team of 4 crew members, ensuring seamless coordination and service.
  • Maintain accounts, budgets, and regular reporting to the management office.
  • Liaise directly with the owner, guests, and the management team — acting as the primary point of contact.
  • Ensure the yacht is always prepared to the highest standard before owner or guest arrivals, including readiness of tenders and toys.
  • Assist in guest service and deck operations when required.
  • Enforce onboard discipline, safety procedures, and a professional working environment.

Requirements:

  • Proven hands-on Captain experience on yachts of similar size.
  • Strong technical, navigational, and maintenance background.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Confident handling guest relations and owner-facing interactions.
  • Valid certifications appropriate to vessel size and flag requirements.
  • Fluent in English (additional languages an advantage).

Personal Attributes:

  • Hardworking, professional, and dedicated to yacht upkeep.
  • No smoking, no drinking, no partying — strong moral standards and professional conduct required.
  • Positive “can-do” attitude with attention to detail.
  • Calm under pressure and committed to creating a harmonious onboard culture.

Priority will be given to candidates with full Sovren Crew compliant profiles.
