Summary
Overview:
A prominent private household is seeking a skilled and discreet Engineer/Handyman to manage all technical, maintenance, and facility-related operations within a luxury estate. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical and technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to maintain property systems to the highest standard expected in a UHNW environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily maintenance and functionality of all estate systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, security, and AV).
- Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance throughout the property.
- Perform hands-on repairs - electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and minor mechanical work.
- Manage external contractors, vendors, and service providers; supervise project quality and timely completion.
- Maintain logs and records for maintenance schedules, inventory, and warranties.
- Support household management team with technical issues, equipment setup, and logistics.
- Assist with upkeep of vehicles, generators, pools, and other property assets as needed.
- Respond promptly to emergencies or system breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption to household operations.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion at all times.
Requirements:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role within a private household, estate, yacht, or hotel.
- Broad technical knowledge across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance disciplines.
- Ability to diagnose and repair a wide range of household and facility systems.
- Strong organizational and communication skills; able to liaise effectively with principals and staff.
- Professional demeanor, trustworthy, and respectful of privacy.
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends when required.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license; clean background check required.
