An exciting opportunity has arisen for a professional and motivated Under Butler to join a highly efficient, friendly, and conservation-focused, fully staffed household team in Siena. This role would suit a candidate with hospitality experience who is looking to refine their skills and progress their career within private service. Applicants from backgrounds in luxury hotels, spas, cruise ships, or yachts are welcome, as well as those already on the butler career path.
This is a semi-formal household that blends the traditions of classic butler service with a contemporary approach to service. The successful candidate will support the Head Butler in daily operations and oversee the team in his absence, ensuring service standards remain exceptional. The principals value a calm, discreet, and non-rushed working environment, making this role ideal for someone with a gentle manner, strong communication skills, and a positive, team-focused approach. Fluency in both Italian and English is essential, as well as holding a valid driving licence and an EU passport.
The role will involve a wide variety of duties, including detailed meal service and planning, wardrobe and packing assistance, management of special events, inventory control, household administration using apps and tech, staff supervision, occasional driving duties, and caring for the family’s beloved dog. Strong organisational skills, multitasking ability, and excellent attention to detail are all key. A full-time, permanent position with two days off per week, the working schedule is 40-45 hours per week, working Monday to Friday, with flexibility as required. The accommodation provided is a beautiful, separate, spacious apartment adjacent to the main residence, comprising one bedroom, a kitchen, a sitting room, and two bathrooms.
DUTIES TO INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
· Supporting the Head Butler in daily service and managing the team in his absence
· Delivering refined meal and beverage service to the highest standards
· Assisting with wardrobe management, packing, and unpacking
· Organising and overseeing special events
· Household administration, including app usage and tech-based tasks
· Inventory management of household items
· Supervising and supporting household staff to ensure smooth communication and teamwork
· Care of the family’s dog, including occasional walks and companionship
· Car care and occasional driving duties
· Maintaining a professional, discreet, and positive attitude at all times
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
· Fluency in both Italian and English
· Valid EU driving licence
· Legal right to work within the EU
· Experience as a Butler or in a transferable high-end hospitality role
· Strong multitasking, organisational, and leadership skills
· Tech-savvy with strong administrative ability
· Commitment to discretion, professionalism, and exceptional customer service
· Positive, adaptable, and team-oriented
