Summary
We are pleased to be assisting with the placement of a Captain for a 40m motor yacht currently based in the UAE. The yacht operates strictly as a private vessel with a long-serving crew onboard and offers a professional yet family-style environment. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Captain seeking a stable, owner-focused role with responsibility for the safe navigation, operation, and management of the vessel in the Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman. The ideal candidate will bring solid command experience, a hands-on approach, and the ability to lead and maintain a well-run yacht programme. The ideal candidate should hold a Masters < 500GT COC but preferably higher with 5 years' experience in the yacht industry. You should also be active, friendly, and of a positive nature. There are 8 permanent long-serving crew members onboard. Candidates should display excellent leadership skills and an attitude that shows care for the crew, professionalism, and accuracy in all areas. Responsibility over budgets will be discussed. The role also comes with onshore apartment accommodation and a motor vehicle for travel. The owners use the vessel mostly on weekends and once or twice a month depending upon their schedules.
The start date for this role is ASAP within the next 3 weeks.
Job Specification
- Valid STCW '10 Certificates
- Valid ENG1 Medical with no restrictions
- Proficiency in Designated Security Duties (PDSD)
- Minimum 5+ Years in similar role and rank experience
- Minimum Master < 500gt or higher with preference to Master 3000 holders
- Preferably show strong Arabian Gulf / Gulf of Oman navigation knowledge and cruising experience
- Excellent leadership skills and professionalism
- Experience on popular Bridge Electronic brands required
- MTU experience advantageous
- Good health and good sobriety
- Must speak fluent English
- Must have good written references and contact details must be provided
- Must be vaccinated for COVID-19 but booster shots are not required.
- No visible tattoos and no smokers

- Salary: €7,000 – €9,000 per month (paid in Qatari Riyal), negotiable depending on experience
