Tender Captain 53 FT HCB
The tender captain, Will solely be responsible for the upkeep, maintenance and safe operation of the chase boat under the guidance of the Captain, Chief officer, Chief Engineer, and Chief stew. Additionally, it is the responsibility of the fishing mate to ensure that all safety equipment onboard is checked monthly, all mechanical equipment is serviced and ready for operation at any given time, all fishing gear is serviced seasonally and ready for use.
As part of the role of the tender captain, It is his/her duty to ensure that the boat’s inventory and maintenance are logged, shipyard work is planned well in advance, passage planning for trips is done and checked by the Captain or Chief Officer. Daily, weekly and monthly checks are completed and documented, if there is any nonfunctioning equipment it is up to the tender captain to ensure it is fixed accordingly.
The tender captain is expected to be well experienced with various fishing types and methods and able to adapt to various places the vessels visit, making use of all available resources to learn and understand different fisheries by using but not limited to local or online knowledge and be confident in teaching Owners and Guests how to fish in relevant waters.
In addition to the responsibilities of the chase boat the tender captain may also be called upon to assist others in various tasks onboard, Namely in the Engineering department assisting the Chief engineer with daily maintenance tasks, repairs and overall upkeep of the vessel.
