Licence: Chief officer Unlimited (commercial license needed). If your license states: Yachts Only it is not recognized on this vessel.
Requirements: STCW + Refresher, Designated Security Awareness, AFF, PSCRB, GMDSS.
B1/B2 or C1/D visa +, ENG1 (or current Marine Medical fit for duty - 6 months minimum . Passport.
At least 3 years experience in the role of Chief Officer with DP experience. Background from research and/ or oil and gas ships highly regarded.
Job Specifics:
We will start with a temp contract and if the vessel and candidate are both happy in their roles then there is the option to become permanent (equal rotation)
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CHIEF OFFICER
The Chief Officer is second in command of the vessel and shall be familiar with the Master's duties, responsibilities, authorities and shall be prepared to take command without notice, relieving the Master of the Bridge whenever this is required by circumstances.
He is jointly responsible for the implementation of Company's SMS procedures in all activities under his responsibility and applying safe working practices while carrying out orders as dictated by good seamanship, best practices and Company policy. He is to be fully familiar with the requirements of the SMS, documentation, checklists, registers and the use of Groove seeking direction from the company when needed and making suggestions for improvement.
The Chief Officer is in charge of the Deck Department and has overall responsibility for all deck-related activities. He is responsible to the Master for the general maintenance of the vessel and the safe and proper operation of the deck equipment.
He is responsible for the execution of the deck equipment maintenance program in cooperation with the Engineering Department and for ensuring all work is carried out in a timely manner according to vessel planned maintenance system. He is to ensure that all maintenance is completed satisfactorily and maintain records of work performed.
He is to ensure the vessel is cleaned, in particular decks, channels and windows, routinely and that the vessel always appears in pristine condition. He is to ensure that all necessary painting and maintenance on exterior hull, decks, deck furniture and in the interior spaces is carried out in a timely manner.
He must carry out his duties as indicated on the Ship's Muster List and other duties as delegated by the Master or Department Head.
