Reporting To:

General Manager 

The Facilities & Engineering Manager is responsible for the technical, operational, and statutory management of all estate infrastructure and building systems at The Johnstown Estate. This role combines hands-on engineering expertise with facilities leadership, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all mechanical, electrical, and building services while supporting a high-end guest experience.

This is a senior, visible role within the business, requiring strong technical judgement, leadership capability, and a proactive approach to asset management, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities: 


1. Engineering & Technical Systems Management 

·       Overall responsibility for the performance, compliance, and lifecycle management of all building systems, including mechanical, electrical, CHP, HVAC, power, plant rooms, BMS, water, wastewater, and associated infrastructure.

·       Lead technical diagnostics, fault-finding, and root cause analysis for complex system issues.

·       Ensure all systems operate efficiently, safely, and in line with manufacturer and regulatory requirements.

·       Maintain detailed technical documentation, drawings, and asset registers.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

·       Degree or recognised qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or closely related discipline).

·       Trade-qualified candidates with significant Mech & Elec responsibility and progression into management will also be considered.

·       Professional certifications or chartered status are advantageous.

·       Strong technical background in mechanical and electrical building services within complex, asset-intensive environments (e.g. hospitality, marine, industrial, healthcare, commercial estates).
