Summary
Magnitude Recruitment is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Bosun to join the build team of a 50m+ sailing yacht currently under construction in Italy. This is a hands-on, sailing-focused deck role working directly under the Chief Officer, with the opportunity to transition into a full-time operational position upon delivery.
The successful candidate will be heavily involved in deck and rig outfitting during the build phase and is expected to fully embrace the sailing yacht ethos at sea, leading by example through strong seamanship, maintenance standards, and active participation in sailing operations.

Key Requirements
- Minimum OOW 500 GT licence
- Valid STCW certification and medical
- Proven experience on large sailing yachts
- Excellent sailing, sail-handling, and deck maintenance skills
- Confident with passage planning and bridge watchkeeping
- Fluent English (spoken and written)
New Build Responsibilities
- Support the Chief Officer with daily shipyard supervision, with a strong focus on deck and rigging outfitting
- Assist with procurement and inventory management of deck equipment and owner-supplied items
- Work closely with the Owner’s Team, shipyard, and subcontractors to ensure quality and timely delivery
- Maintain a meticulous approach to build details, finishes, and operational readiness
Operational Role & Leadership
- Act as Officer of the Watch when underway
- Support the Chief Officer in leading the deck team, with a strong emphasis on safety, seamanship, and team culture
- Remain fully hands-on across all deck operations including sail handling, mooring, maintenance, and watchkeeping
- Actively engage in sail training, passage planning, and preparation for a demanding global itinerary
