Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and capable Sole Engineer to join a motor yacht operating in the West Mediterranean for the season. The yacht will be Med-based with a combination of owner use and a small number of charters. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical knowledge, independence, and a calm, solutions-focused approach.
Key Responsibilities
The Sole Engineer will be fully responsible for the engineering and technical operation of the yacht, including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and system management across all onboard machinery. The role also involves liaising with suppliers, contractors, and shipyards as required, and supporting other departments when needed within a small crew environment.
Technical Systems Onboard
The engineer should be familiar with or have experience working on the following systems:
• 2 x Kohler generators (35kW)
• MAN heavy-duty engine (368kW)
• Webasto air conditioning
• Hamann sewage treatment plant
• Idromar watermaker
Strong mechanical, electrical, and electronic knowledge is essential.
Requirements
• AEC 1 and AEC 2 (minimum)
• Yachtmaster
• STCW
• ENG1 medical
• Proven experience as a Sole Engineer or senior engineer on similar-sized yachts
• Strong problem-solving and fault-finding ability
• Calm under pressure, organised, and proactive
• Non-smoker / non-vaper, light drinker
• Sporty, active, pleasant to work with
• Willing to assist in other areas when required
Salary & Contract
Salary is industry standard, with flexibility to pay above average for a high-quality candidate( Min 6,000 euros/month)
SEA contract applies, with approximately 2.5 days leave per month. As this is a seasonal contract, leave is most likely paid out at the end of the season.
