Summary

Engineer – 96’ Foreign-Flag Private Explorer Yacht

This is not a dock-queen position — this is a true expedition-style program for an engineer who thrives off the beaten path.

A 96’ foreign-flagged private explorer vessel is completing an extensive refit and preparing for an ambitious cruising itinerary. The program will begin in the Bahamas, before heading north to Halifax, Iceland, Greenland, Scotland, and beyond. Remote cruising, cold-water operations, and self-sufficiency are core to this role.

We are seeking a hands-on, resourceful yacht engineer with real-world experience operating in remote and challenging environments. This position is for someone who can think independently, problem-solve under pressure, and keep a vessel running smoothly when there’s no dock, no tech support, and no quick phone call for help.

This is not a “cell-phone engineer” role. You must be comfortable diagnosing, repairing, fabricating, and adapting systems yourself — often far from parts suppliers or service technicians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full oversight of all mechanical, electrical, and technical systems onboard
  • Supporting final refit completion, system commissioning, and sea trials
  • Proactive maintenance planning for extended remote cruising
  • Troubleshooting and repairs in isolated regions with limited resources
  • Supporting expedition readiness, redundancy planning, and safety systems
  • Working closely with the captain to ensure reliability in challenging conditions

Candidate Profile

  • Proven yacht engineering experience on similar-size vessels
  • Prior experience in remote, high-latitude, or off-the-grid cruising areas strongly preferred
  • Highly resourceful, mechanically minded, and solutions-focused
  • Calm, practical, and confident operating without immediate shoreside support
  • Explorer mindset — adventurous, resilient, and adaptable
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills in a small, tight-knit crew environment

The Program

  • Private ownership
  • Expedition-focused cruising
  • Bahamas to North Atlantic to Arctic regions to Northern Europe
  • Professionally run, adventure-driven vessel
  • Rare opportunity to be part of a true explorer yacht itinerary

This role is ideal for an engineer who lives for adventure, takes pride in self-reliance, and wants to be part of a program that goes far beyond the typical yachting routes.

If you’re the kind of engineer who packs tools instead of excuses, we want to hear from you.
