The Candidate Specification
An exciting opportunity is available for a Temporary 2nd Officer, with strong potential to go permanent, on board a +100m world-cruising superyacht currently in the Caribbean, with future cruising in the Med.
This is a hands-on role for an experienced 2nd Officer who can hit the ground running. The yacht is mid-program, so the successful candidate must be confident, self-sufficient, and able to slot straight into an established bridge team without requiring training or changing procedures.
The contract runs from 2nd February 2026 to the end of March 2026. Salary is DOE and includes paid holiday. A B1/B2 visa is required.
Applicants must hold STCW II/1 OOW Unlimited with previous 2nd Officer experience, strong bridge and navigational watchkeeping skills, excellent tender driving ability, and proven leadership. Required certification includes ECDIS, GMDSS, Advanced Fire Fighting, SSO, HLO, and valid medical.
Reporting to the Chief Officer, the role is 80 - 90% bridge-based, acting as Navigating Officer and Safety Officer. Duties include passage planning, chart and ECDIS management, bridge watchkeeping, safety training and drills, LSA/FFE maintenance, mooring operations, permits to work, crew inductions, audits, and liaising with AVIT for bridge and GMDSS equipment.
