Position: Sous Chef (Temporary Yard Period Contract)
Location: Shoreside Galley – approximately 50 meters from the vessel
Contract Duration: 2–4 Weeks (Yard Period Coverage)
We are seeking adependable Sous Chef during our yard period, covering a 2 to 4 week temporary contract while our other Chef is on leave. This role is focused exclusively on crew catering and plays a key part in maintaining morale and routine during a busy maintenance period.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing three meals per day for crew only, ensuring consistency, nutritional balance, and timely service. All food preparation will take place in a very well-equipped shoreside galley, located approximately 50 meters from the vessel, providing a professional and efficient working environment away from onboard constraints.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily for crew during the yard period
- Produce wholesome, well-balanced meals suited to physically demanding work schedules
- Manage provisioning
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation in accordance with industry regulations
- Ensure the galley and all storage areas remain clean, organized, and operationally efficient
- Communicate effectively with vessel management and crew to ensure smooth daily operations
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a comparable professional kitchen or galley environment
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and deliver consistent results with minimal supervision
- Strong understanding of provisioning, stock control, and cost awareness
- Professional demeanor, reliability, and adaptability during a fast-paced yard period
- Candidates currently based in the United States are preferred
- Valid B1/B2 visa must be held at the time of application
