Second Officer – Private 70m Motor Yacht
We are seeking a highly motivated and Second Officer to join the bridge and deck team aboard a well-run 70m private motor yacht. This position is ideal for a career-focused officer who has progressed through the yachting industry and demonstrates a strong work ethic, sound seamanship, and excellent bridge practices.
The successful candidate will have navigational and watchkeeping experience, a high standard of professionalism, and the ability to support the Chief Officer in the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of the vessel. Key responsibilities include bridge watches, passage planning, safety and compliance duties, and assisting with deck operations and crew management.
Strong leadership skills, clear communication, and a proactive approach to safety and teamwork are essential. The role suits an individual who takes pride in maintaining high operational standards and contributing positively to a well-structured and professional onboard environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Chief Officer with all bridge operations and navigational tasks.
- Stand watch duties as OOW
- Oversee the deck team during deck operations, competent tender driver, we tow a 16m large tender,
- Maintain ISM/ISPS and safety equipment checks as assigned
- Participate in planned maintenance IDEA/Pinpoint and upkeep of all deck areas
- Support guest operations with exceptional service and professionalism
- Lead by example with a positive.
Requirements
- Minimum OOW 3000GT (STCW II/1)
- Valid STCW, ENG1, and all relevant certificates
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Keen, hands-on team player with a can-do attitude
- You will ideally have 5+ of experience onboard, ideally on similar sized vessels
- If you are a Divemaster or avid Fisherman that would be very advantageous
- Equally, if you have a trade related background such as carpentry this would be attractive.
