Summary
COUPLES POSITION
CAPTAIN/ENGINEER AN MATE/STEWARDESS
A professional Captain/Engineer and Mate/Stewardess couple are required for a private Oyster 625 embarking on an adventurous world voyage. The yacht will depart Newport, RI in January 2026, transiting through Panama and cruising Costa Rica before spending February–April exploring the Sea of Cortez. From April to November, the yacht will make an extended Bluewater passage to New Zealand, where a 60-day haul-out, refit, and crew holiday are planned. The following season will see the yacht continue north through Indonesia, Japan, the Aleutian Islands, and onward to British Columbia.
The Captain will be responsible for safe navigation, maintenance, and overall yacht management, with strong engineering knowledge and prior offshore experience essential.
The Mate/Stewardess will assist on deck during passages and handle interior duties, provisioning, and guest service when owners are aboard. Both should enjoy the hands-on nature of operating a yacht of this size and be comfortable in remote cruising locations. Very importantly, the crew will be comfortable with active owner involvement as this owner loves sailing his boat. A positive, resourceful couple with excellent communication, seamanship, and hospitality skills will thrive in this varied and rewarding role.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced couple seeking a long-term cruising program aboard a well maintained Oyster yacht. A couple team is preferred due to cabin sharing arrangements but individuals will be considered for these roles.
Requirements:
Captain: RYA Yachtmaster Offshore or USCG 100 Ton (minimum)
Both: Valid STCW and ENG1 (or equivalent seafarer medical)
Strong maintenance and systems knowledge (Captain)
Confident deck and interior skills (Mate/Stewardess)
Previous Bluewater and Oyster experience highly regarded
