Summary
-THIS IS A LANDBASED ROLE AND YOU MUST HOLD AN EU PASSPORT TO BE CONSIDERED -
Silver Swan is currently seeking an experienced All-Rounder / Household Manager with a strong background in luxury hospitality to oversee three high-end private residences located in Milan and Ibiza, with occasional travel to London. The ideal candidate will be based in Milan and willing to travel with the Principal to Ibiza from March until October, and to London approximately five times per year for stays of up to one week each.
This is a hands-on role requiring both operational skill and managerial oversight. You will coordinate household staff, contractors, and seasonal vendors while upholding impeccable standards of service, organization, and discretion.
The position demands proactive planning, autonomy, and the ability to work closely and directly with the Principal.
At times when there are only one or two people in residence (in Milan, and for at least three months during the Ibiza season), the candidate will personally perform basic daily housekeeping and light cooking, while organizing weekly deep cleaning with external housekeepers. A key part of the role is therefore to source, recruit, train, and manage external or seasonal housekeepers, retaining full responsibility for overall results and presentation standards.
During busier periods (typically the summer months), when there are more than two guests, additional daily housekeeping support must be scheduled, supervised, and managed without compromising service levels. When more than four people are in residence, a cook may also be employed and coordinated by the candidate.
Please Note: Candidates must hold an EU passport or valid work permit prior to applying, as visa sponsorship cannot be provided. Applications from non-EU candidates cannot be considered.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure all residences are maintained to luxury-hospitality standards (cleanliness, wardrobe organization, linens, amenities).
- Manage grocery and household shopping across all properties, based on the number of people in residence and travel schedules.
- Seasonal opening and closing of homes (e.g., Ibiza prepared by March; wardrobes rotated between Milan and Ibiza).
- Source, recruit, and manage additional external housekeepers as needed in Milan and Ibiza.
- Coordinate seasonal hires in Ibiza and Milan, and maintain communication with permanent support in London.
- Prepare homes ahead of arrivals (menu planning, grocery shopping, coordination with chef or cook, pantry and fridge stocking).
- Liaise with the Principal on family schedules, travel plans, and property logistics.
- Manage household budgets, track expenses, and prepare simple reports.
- Coordinate contractors (gardening, pool, maintenance, vehicles, etc.).
- Monitor properties remotely via installed camera systems to ensure upkeep and security.
Ideal Candidate:
- Must hold an EU passport or valid work permit.
- Proven experience in managing high-end private households.
- Demonstrated job stability, with at least one role of 3+ years’ tenure in recent years.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Fluent in Italian and English (Spanish a strong plus).
- Highly discreet, trustworthy, and service-oriented, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Flexible and adaptable, able to manage changing schedules and seasonal demands.
- Milan-based (or nearby), with willingness to travel extensively: long stays in Milan and Ibiza, and short but regular trips to London.
