We are currently seeking a highly experienced, professional, and proactive Senior Deckhand to join our prestigious 80m+ yacht. The vessel will begin its journey in Europe and cross to the Caribbean. This is a permanent, rotational position for a skilled individual who takes pride in maintaining high standards both on deck and with guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and assist with all deck operations, including mooring, docking, and line handling
- Supervise and mentor junior deckhands, ensuring they follow best practices in their daily duties
- Perform routine maintenance and repair tasks, ensuring the vessel is in top condition
- Act as a point of contact for guest watersports activities, providing exceptional service and ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience
- Manage the deck and watersports equipment, ensuring it is well-maintained and ready for use
- Lead the team in the upkeep of the exterior of the yacht, including cleaning, varnishing, and ensuring the vessel presents itself at the highest standard
- Ensure safety procedures are followed, especially in high-risk situations during watersports and other deck operations
- Maintain a professional and friendly relationship with guests, contributing to a positive atmosphere on board
- Assist with the training and development of junior crew members, promoting teamwork and high standards
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 - 3years’ experience as a deckhand.
- Strong background in watersports (e.g., wakeboarding, water skiing, diving) and a proactive approach to assisting guests
- Valid PB2 (Powerboat Level 2) certificate and all relevant STCW certifications (STCW 2010 Basic Safety Training, ENG1 Medical, etc.)
- Experience in yacht maintenance, including knowledge of cleaning, varnishing, tender driving, and safety systems
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and manage a team
- Ability to perform well under pressure and in a luxury guest environment
- Excellent communication skills, both with crew and guests
- Strong attention to detail, a proactive attitude, and an exceptional work ethic
