Job Overview
We are looking for a capable, experienced Deckhand with a strong sailing background to join our 45m private sailing yacht for an indefinite period starting in early October. The vessel will be going into a busy yard period requiring hands-on support and maintenance.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys working both under supervision and independently. You will be reporting to the First Mate but expected to manage tasks solo when needed.
A minimum of Yachtmaster Offshore is required, along with real sea experience—whether through professional yacht work or extensive personal sailing.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily deck operations: cleaning, maintenance, and guest support
- Tender driving and anchorage duties
- Sail handling and rigging tasks
- Support during yard period: deck prep, logistics, and coordination, interior carpentry, deck and rig maintenance
- Assisting with mooring, docking, and general upkeep
- Occasional help during guest lunches and events
Requirements
- Yachtmaster Offshore (minimum)
- Proven sailing experience—professional or personal
- STCW Basic Training (valid and up to date)
- Powerboat Level II (can be obtained over the winter)
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Calm, respectful, and professional demeanor
- Comfortable in a family-style, non-charter environment
- Experience with large winches and rigs is useful, but a careful and positive attitude is most important
