Description

The Crew Academy’s Recruitment & Retention course is designed to equip you with the knowledge and practical skills to recruit, retain, manage and develop crew.

Participants will explore key aspects of recruitment, interview techniques, onboarding and induction, performance management, employee development and change management.

With a decade of experience recruiting yacht crew in our sister company, The Crew Hunter, we are dedicated to making the yachting industry a better place to work.

Course Structure

Module 1 - Recruitment

  • The Beginning: Initial steps in the recruitment process.
  • Job Description: Crafting effective job descriptions.
  • Person Specification: Identifying required qualifications and skills.
  • Choosing an Advertising Approach: Strategies for reaching potential candidates.
  • Reviewing Candidates: Evaluating applicant qualifications and suitability.

Module 2 - Interviews and Beyond

  • Building Your Team: Considerations for assembling an interview panel.
  • Interviewing: Techniques for conducting effective interviews.
  • Exploring Other Areas: Additional assessments beyond traditional interviews.
  • Induction: Onboarding procedures for new hires.

Module 3 - Performance Management, Training and Development

  • Performance Management: Establishing performance standards and goals.
  • Annual Appraisals: Conducting comprehensive yearly performance reviews.
  • Mid-Point Appraisal: Evaluating progress midway through the appraisal period.
  • End of Year Appraisal: Assessing performance at the end of the appraisal cycle.
  • Managing Discipline and Grievances: Addressing employee conduct and grievances.
  • Training and Development: Identifying and providing opportunities for skill enhancement.
