### **Role Overview**

We are seeking a capable and motivated **First Officer (Chief Mate)** to take full responsibility for the **deck department** and contribute to safe, efficient, and well‑run yacht operations. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with a proactive safety mindset and a supportive approach to crew training and bridge operations.


**Couples are considered**, with the First Officer role potentially paired with a **Second Steward/ess** position.

### **Key Responsibilities**

- Full responsibility for the **deck department** and deck operations

- Ensure **safe navigation and safe onboard operations** at all times

- Act as **Safety Officer**, promoting and maintaining a strong safety culture

- Lead, train, and manage deck crew professionally and effectively

- Stand bridge watches and assist with passage planning

- Support and help crew **learn and develop bridge knowledge and best practices**

- Ensure compliance with maritime regulations, safety standards, and yacht procedures

- Proven experience as a **First Officer / Chief Mate** on similar‑sized yachts

- A calm, confident, and **effective leader**

- Strong safety awareness and operational competence

- Willing and able to mentor and support crew development

- Organized, hands‑on, and reliable

- Professional communication skills and a team‑oriented mindset

- Valid **European Seaman’s Book**

- **Legal permission to work in Europe** (mandatory)

- Appropriate maritime qualifications for the role
