Job Description
In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the full care of all garments and linens within the household, ensuring the highest possible standards of laundry, wardrobe management and presentation.
You will be part of a team of housekeepers to support maintaining the household, reporting directly to the Head Housekeeper and House Manager.
Role Responsibilities
- Manage the full laundry cycle: washing, steaming, ironing, stain removal, and handwashing delicate fabrics.
- Care for fine garments, including couture, cashmere, silk, and formalwear, ensuring expert handling and discretion.
- Organise and maintain wardrobes, including seasonal rotation, packing/unpacking for travel, and proper storage.
- Liaise with dry cleaners and manage returns, repairs, and specialist cleaning requirements.
- Carry out simple mending and alterations, or coordinate with external tailors when required.
- Oversee household linens and towels, ensuring stock rotation and immaculate presentation.
- Maintain the laundry room to the highest standards, keeping it organised and well-stocked with appropriate products.
- Provide support to the wider housekeeping team during quieter laundry periods if needed.
- Uphold the highest level of discretion and maintain complete confidentiality at all times.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a dedicated Laundress role within a UHNW private household, luxury yacht, or 5-star hotel.
- Expert knowledge of fabric care, stain removal, and handling of delicate and luxury garments.
- Proven wardrobe management experience, including travel preparation and packing.
- Excellent attention to detail, proactive mindset, and calm under pressure.
- Fluent English with strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude.
- Right to work in the UK with checkable references.
