Summary
Deck/Stew – 85-foot Charter Yacht
Seasonal Position: May 1st – September 30th
Based: South of France
We’re seeking a dedicated, energetic Deck/Stew to join our tight-knit seasonal team aboard an 85-foot luxury charter yacht, with a 48ft chase boat. This is a hybrid position with a 70/30 split—70% focused on exterior/deck duties as the main priority, and 30% assisting interior/stew tasks as needed.
You’ll report to the Captain and work closely with the Chase Boat Captain and any other crew, jumping between deck work during daily operations and interior support during busy charter periods.
Key Responsibilities (70% Exterior / Deck Focus):
- Daily exterior maintenance: wash-downs, teak cleaning, stainless polishing, detailing, and general upkeep to keep the yacht in pristine “show” condition at all times.
- Line handling, fenders, mooring assistance, anchoring support, and helping with maneuvers in tight Med ports and anchorages.
- Assisting with water sports and toys: setup, demonstration, safety checks, and breakdown/storage after use.
- General deck support: guest activities on exterior areas, beach/picnic setups, sunbed/cushion management, and ensuring all outdoor spaces are guest-ready.
Interior / Stew Assistance (30% as Needed):
- Supporting housekeeping: cabin turnovers, detailing guest areas, laundry/ironing, and restocking supplies.
- Guest service backup: assisting with meal service, drink preparation, table settings, and basic hospitality when the team is stretched.
- Interior cleaning of common areas, heads, and cabins during high-turnover periods or when extra hands are required.
Must-Haves:
- Minimum 2 years relevant yachting experience (preferably in a similar hybrid deck/stew or deckhand role on charter yachts).
- Female candidate due to specific cabin arrangements and shared living spaces on board.
- Valid STCW Basic Safety Training, ENG1 (or equivalent medical certificate), and any other required certifications.
- Proven ability to handle the physical demands of deck work (long hours on feet, lifting, exposure to sun/elements) while maintaining a professional, discreet, and positive attitude around high-profile guests.
- Team-oriented mindset—flexible, reliable, and willing to cross-department duties without hesitation.
- Comfortable in the fast-paced, high-season Mediterranean environment (crowded marinas, variable weather, demanding charter schedules).
Nice-to-Haves:
- Powerboat Level 2 (or equivalent tender license) and experience driving chase/tender boats.
- Basic silver service, bartending, or hospitality background for interior support.
- French language skills (helpful for local suppliers, marinas, and some guests).
- Previous Med charter experience, especially South of France / Côte d’Azur.
If you’ve got the experience, the work ethic, and you thrive in a small crew where everyone pitches in, we want to hear from you.
Apply: Send your CV, relevant certificates, recent references, and a cover outlining your deck vs. interior experience balance.
