Summary
Burgess Recruitment is currently seeking a 2nd Officer for a 65m+ private yacht.
This position is ideal for a motivated, safety-conscious candidate with a strong background in deck operations.
Open to a newly qualified OOW, who has some good solid Bosun experience on 60+ yachts.
Requirements
· OOW 3000
· All relevant tickets in hand and up to date
· Furuno Type specific (or willing to complete)
· Strong tender driving skills
· Proven experience in similar position
· Good practical experience – strong maintenance skills – tools, painting, varnishing & happy to teach junior crew.
· Calm, confident leader with a hands-on approach
· Strong communicator across all levels of the deck team
B1B2 visa and Schengen are essential
Responsibilities
- 80% deck / 20% Bridge
· Support Chief Officer with deck planning, operations & crew management
· Assist Bosun with day-to-day running of the deck
· Ensure inventories, ordering & general deck maintenance schedules are kept current.
· Reliable go-between for the deck team and senior officers
· Passage planning & weekly chart/eNP updates
· GMDSS checks
· LSA & FFE maintenance
