PRIVATE BUTLER
COTSWOLDS WITH GLOBAL TRAVEL
Essential Requirements: Minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a Butler, able to travel extensively, UK driver’s licence. Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK.
We are seeking an experienced Butler to join an existing team for an estate based in the Cotswolds. This is a formal and traditionally run, fully staffed household. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience working as a Butler.
You will be required to travel globally to other residences, yachts, and hotels, as required. You will be working within an extensive global team, reporting to the principals with daily management from the long-standing House Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily:
· Opening and closing of the house
· Setting of formal and informal tables and service of all meals, liaising with the private Chef
· Preparation of and service of breakfast trays
· Mixing and service of drinks and canapes
· Cleaning and setting of fires and grates
· Cleaning and polishing of silver and brass
· Helping the housekeeping team with heavier cleaning tasks
· Valeting and management of the male principal’s wardrobe
· Cleaning, polishing and bulling of shoes
· Ad-hoc errands and requests
· Dog care and walking
General:
· Travel in advance to other estates, residences or hotels, to ensure everything is ready for principal’s arrival
· Packing and unpacking for the principal
· Greeting of guests
· Full Butler service at formal dinners and lunches
· Service of wines and cigars
· In conjunction with the House Manager, planning and preparing of events, dinners, lunches and guest arrivals
· Ad-hoc driving for the principals
· Ensuring stocks of cleaning equipment, household goods and provisions.
· In conjunction with Chef, cleaning of the kitchen
· Assist in travel logistics and coordination with household staff, chauffeurs, and external service providers.
Candidates should have a minimum of 5+ years’ experience working as a high-level Butler or luxury household service role with formal service and household coordination experience. Able to travel extensively, excellent communication skills, full UK driving licence. The role is a 40+ hour working week, arranged on a rotational basis in line with the principals’ schedule. Flexibility is essential as you will be required to work weekends and extended days during periods of residence, travel, or entertaining, and variable hours dependent on location and activity. Salary £60-£70k depending on experience, accommodation provided. Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK (HU4381).
