Summary

Vessel:

Private 40-meter motor yacht operating primarily in the Mediterranean. Dual-season program with a mix of cruising and occasional shipyard periods. Professional but relaxed onboard environment with an emphasis on high standards, teamwork, and pride in presentation.


Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated First Mate (OOW certified) for a hands-on leadership role onboard a well-maintained 40m private motor yacht. This is an active deck position requiring strong seamanship, excellent organizational skills, and a willingness to lead by example.


The ideal candidate is practical, detail-oriented, and confident in managing deck operations while actively participating in all aspects of maintenance and exterior upkeep.


Key Responsibilities

Stand navigational watches (OOW compliant)

Assist Captain with passage planning, bridge operations, and safety management

Lead and oversee deck crew in daily operations and maintenance schedules

Hands-on involvement in painting, varnishing, polishing, washdowns, and general upkeep


Manage tender operations and watersports equipment

Oversee deck inventory, maintenance logs, and planned maintenance systems

Assist with docking, anchoring, and maneuvering operations

Ensure high standards of exterior presentation at all times

Provide mentorship, guidance, and training to junior deck crew

Requirements

Officer of the Watch (OOW) <3000GT (minimum)

Valid STCW, ENG1, and all relevant certification

Proven experience as Mate or strong Bosun ready to step up on similar-sized vessel

Solid experience with paint systems, surface preparation, and deck maintenance

Strong tender driving skills (powerboat level 2 minimum; advanced preferred)

Good leadership and communication skills

Professional appearance and positive attitude

Ability to work in a small, close-knit crew environment
