Chief Officer – 50m Motor Yacht (10:10 Rotation)
We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Chief Officer to join a 50m motor yacht currently based in the United Arab Emirates, operating on a 10:10 rotational schedule. The vessel will be engaged in worldwide cruising over the next 18 months, with an extensive itinerary covering the Middle East, Mediterranean, United States and Caribbean.
Although privately operated at 499 GT, the yacht is run to full commercial standards and in accordance with Cayman safe manning. This is a very busy vessel that travels extensively, requiring a proactive, organised, and operationally minded Chief Officer.
The Chief Officer will have overall management responsibility for both deck and bridge operations, acting as Second in Command and working closely with the Captain to ensure safe, efficient, and professional vessel operations at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overall management of deck and bridge operations
- Leadership, training, and supervision of the deck team (one Bosun and two deckhands)
- Acting as Second in Command, supporting the Captain in all operational and safety matters
- Watchkeeping, navigation support, and passage planning
- Ensuring compliance with safety management systems, procedures, and commercial operating standards
- Oversight of exterior maintenance, deck equipment, tenders, and water toys
- Maintaining high standards of presentation, readiness, and operational efficiency
- Supporting smooth day-to-day operations within a professional crew of 10 and 62' Chase boat with two crew
Requirements:
- Valid MCA Chief Mate 3000
- Proven experience in a similar Chief Officer or senior deck role on busy, cruising yachts
- Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
- Solid understanding of commercial-style operations and safety management
- Ability to be calm under pressure in a fast-paced, high-movement program
- Professional, adaptable, and team-oriented attitude
