Summary

Position: Lead Deckhand / Bosun

Vessel: 47m Motor Yacht

Program: Predominantly Private with Light Charter

Cruising Area: West Coast USA, Alaska, Panama Canal, Caribbean

Start Date: Flexible (early 2026 preferred)

Someone to commit for at least: 12 months

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Deckhand/Bosun to join a well-run 47m motor yacht operating a primarily private program with occasional light charter.

The vessel is foreign flagged and will be spending a significant portion of 2026 in U.S. waters, meaning limited charter activity during that period. This role is ideal for a candidate who enjoys a hands-on deck position, an adventurous itinerary, and being part of a close-knit, professional crew.

The Role

The successful candidate will be confident in all aspects of deck operations, including but not limited to:

  • Mooring, anchoring, and line handling
  • Wash downs and exterior detailing
  • Deck maintenance and upkeep
  • Tender operations and towing
  • Watersports support

We tow a 35ft HammerCat tender, so strong tender-driving experience is highly advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Yachtmaster 200GT or USCG 100 Ton (required)
  • Proven deck experience on similar-sized vessels
  • Strong work ethic with a positive, team-focused attitude
  • Diving and/or fishing knowledge a plus

Crew & Culture

The yacht has a crew of 9 and maintains a positive, active onboard atmosphere. We are a hardworking but social team who enjoy hiking, exploring new destinations, and making the most of our time ashore when schedules allow. Most of the HODs have been onboard for three years or more, reflecting a stable program.

Itinerary Highlights

  • Currently in Mexico, departing early February
  • Cruising north through San Diego to Seattle, timing is weather permitting
  • Shipyard period in Seattle for annual surveys and Alaska preparations
  • Summer season in Alaska with extended owner, family, and guest trips
  • Returning south with the goal of being in the Caribbean by December 2026
  • Possible stops in Mexico and/or Costa Rica for owner use and potential charter, depending on inquiries.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven deck experience on similar-sized vessels
  • Enjoys adventurous cruising and off-the-beaten-path itineraries
  • Looking to commit for at least one year and progress within yachting
  • Male candidate required due to cabin arrangements

This is an excellent opportunity to join a great boat with lovely owners and a professional, supportive crew, offering varied cruising and meaningful hands-on experience.
