Summary
Position: Chief Officer for a 50m busy charter MY
Location: USA for the yard period till April
Start Date: By March 1st at the latest
Itinerary: chartering in the Bahamas between April and September
Contract: Full-time for the first 6 months, and 10 weeks on/off rotation offered from September
Competitive salary +-$9k (DOE) with equal share of charter tips.
This role is well-suited to an ambitious and hands-on professional — either an experienced Chief Officer coming from a yacht similar size or a strong Second Officer stepping up from a 60-70m — who brings energy, initiative, and leadership to the team.
Role Overview
The Chief Officer will work directly under the Captain, assisting in safe navigation, vessel operations, and crew management while leading the deck department.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee and manage all deck operations, maintenance, and exterior presentation
• Act as Safety Officer, ensuring full ISM, ISPS and MARPOL compliance
• Assist the Captain with navigation, voyage planning, and bridge watchkeeping
• Lead, train, and mentor deck crew to maintain high standards and morale
• Operate and manage large tender operations (40ft +)
• Organize and lead guest activities including diving, fishing, and kiteboarding
• Maintain up-to-date safety drills, records, and documentation
Qualifications & Experience:
• OOW and B1/B2 visa
• Excellent navigational, leadership, and communication skills
• Thorough understanding of ISM, ISPS, and PMS procedures
• Charter experience highly advantageous
Bahamas and Caribbean cruising experience is a plus
Additional Skills are a plus but not a must:
• PADI Dive Master (or higher certification)
• Experienced fisherman (deep-sea and sport fishing)
• Experienced kiteboarder (able to supervise guest sessions)
• Qualified Personal Trainer (PT) or proven fitness background
