A respectful and detail-oriented professional couple is seeking a dedicated, long-term Housekeeper/Cook to support their primary residence near Miami. This is a wonderful opportunity for a reliable, service-minded professional who takes pride in maintaining a high standard of home care while working in a warm and appreciative household environment.The principals are personable, fair, and value staff who demonstrate a strong work ethic, discretion, and consistency. They travel for approximately 2.5 months during the summer, during which time the role shifts primarily to house management and property oversight. The position also includes several short trips each year to the principals’ New York City residence.
Job Description
This role is based in a private residence with 7 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall cleanliness, organization, and smooth daily operation of the home, as well as preparing simple, wholesome dinners for the principals. The household is calm and structured. Breakfasts and lunches are not required, as the principals are typically out during the day. Dinners are simple and comforting in style, with a preference for soups and stews.
The position is best suited to someone who enjoys a steady routine, can work independently, and is comfortable taking initiative while respecting the principals’ preferences and household standards.
Travel to the NYC property is required approximately 3-5 times per year.
Role Responsibilities
- Full-charge housekeeping of a large private residence
- Daily cleaning, deep cleaning, and upkeep of all rooms and surfaces
- Laundry and ironing, including care for delicate fabrics
- Closet and household organization
- Monitoring household supplies and replenishing as needed
- Light household management duties during principals’ travel periods
- Preparing simple, healthy dinners (primarily soups, stews, and home-style meals)
- Kitchen clean-up after meal preparation
- Ensuring the home remains secure and well-maintained in the principals’ absence
- Packing/unpacking assistance when principals travel (as needed)
- Travelling with the principals to NYC several times per year
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
- Prior experience working in a private home in a similar role
- Strong housekeeping skills with close attention to detail
- Ability to cook simple, home-style meals confidently
- Trustworthy, discreet, and professional demeanour
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Comfortable working in a large home environment
- Flexible and willing to travel domestically
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
Preferred:
- Experience in live-in household roles
- Longevity in previous positions
- Familiarity with preparing a variety of light, comfort-style dishes
