Summary
Captain / Engineer
68ft Motor Yacht | US Flag | Strictly Private
We are seeking an experienced Captain/Engineer for a 68ft US-flagged motor yacht. This is a strictly private program with a hands-on owner who values simplicity, adventure, and time spent off the dock.
Program Overview
- Full-time Captain onboard
- Owner brings on a cook/stew only for trips
- East Coast–based with seasonal cruising to the Bahamas
- Currently completing a refit in Florida; expected ready mid-January
- Initial Bahamas cruising, then heading north before June
This is not a party boat and does not operate with silver service or unrealistic expectations. The program is relaxed, practical, and experience-driven.
Owner & Usage Style
The owner prefers anchoring out, exploring, and enjoying quiet time on the water rather than marina hopping or being “seen.” He enjoys fishing and spending quality time with his two sons (both in their mid-20s), who are surfers, videographers, photographers, and true outdoor enthusiasts.
The owner previously owned an 80ft sailing yacht for 25 years, which he sold last year. This is his first motor yacht, and he is seeking a Captain who understands both traditional seamanship and modern motor yacht systems. He and his family have traveled extensively worldwide.
Candidate Profile
- Strong navigation and seamanship background
- Solid engineering and mechanical knowledge (hands-on is essential)
- Current and practical Bahamas cruising knowledge
- Comfortable running a yacht independently and proactively
- Calm, professional, and adaptable personality
- Enjoys a low-key, adventure-focused lifestyle
- Must enjoy dogs — the owner has two Australian Shepherds that regularly travel onboard
Compensation
- Salary DOE
This role is ideal for a capable, grounded Captain/Engineer who enjoys autonomy, exploration, and a genuine private program with a respectful owner.
